(Re-)Turning towards the light

ree

As we approach the Winter Solstice on December 21st and experience the shift from the shortest day to the gradual return and increase light with longer days, we are invited to pause. A pause to reflect on our relationship to the natural rhythm of the earth and our own natural rhythm. A rhythm that is unique to us because of who we are or how we choose to live our lives. Questions arise: Is this rhythm one that is still relevant to our current state? Are we stuck in the memory of harmony or grasping for a rhythm that may have been outlived and needs to be shed courageously to make room for a new, nourishing and authentic rhythm? Can we explore a rhythm that more closely matches our current emotional, physical and mental needs? How can our practice inform and attune us to our inner world of seasons, light and darkness, rhythms and change? I hope these darker, introspective days and the slow return to light will allow you to explore these questions on and off the mat. Happy Winter Solstice!
